28/10/21 - Captain Fantastic 2016 1h 58m

I decided to end last week with one of my favourite comfort movies, captain fantastic. Not only is the film stylistically gorgeous but it also encaptures the feeling of family and needing to find a middle ground so seamlessly. I love the relationship between Ben and Bo because of the way their energy bounced off of each other and even though Geroge Mckay's part was more "energetic" Viggo's performance was, as always, so incredible. I will repeat what I've heard many people say simply because I agree, he is one of the few actors that I can never see acting. 4.5/5

30/10/21 - Marrowbone  2017 1h 50m

Yes, yet another George Mckay film but I just couldn't resist as marrowbone has to be one of the easiest to watch thriller films that performs so nicely in the Halloween rainy weather.  The constant suspense and flashbacks let the audience be held completely in the hands of the director as none of the twists can be foreseen, at least for me. *SPOILER* I really liked Sanchez's and Mckay's depiction of DID as it really showed the protective part of the mental illness itself and if anything it reminded me of fight club in that sense of conveying the debatable, "improvement" of the protagonist's life through DID. Overall, thoroughly enjoyed this film as it kept me on the edge of my seat. 4/5

21/10/21 - French Dispatch  2021 1h 43m

What can I say? Not only is Wes Anderson my absolute favourite auteur director but this was only the first film of his that I've been able to see in the cinema so I knew walking up to my seat that I was going to have a great time. It certainly delivered. I loved seeing all of the different media forms that Wes has explored come together in one project, the stop motion skills he got from Isle of Dogs and Fantastic Mr Fox and the growth of his exploration into many separate plot lines. All I'll say about the film itself is that it was everything I wanted it to be, I can't wait to rewatch and I think my favourite part was both the song Aline performed by Jarvis Cocker and Benicio del toro's performance

09/03/2022- Little miss Sunshine 2006 1h 41m

Re watching this film is one of the best decisions I've made over the past week. The first time I watched LMS I felt really sad afterwards. whilst the ending was predominantly happy I felt like it was sort of hopeless and now looking back, i clearly paid no attention. This film film displays the joys found in the lower points of life. The happiness and security in being a confident person, sure maybe a loser, but still by being confident as a person you're inevitably happy. You can't disappoint or be disappointing. The tone of this film and the emotion is beautifully done, whilst the cast as a whole performed incredibly well,  Paul Dano and Alan Arkin stood out the most to me. Dwayne's breakdown feels so raw and full of every different kind of emotion not just sadness. I must say, Kinnear as Richard was an excellent choice because I genuinely couldn't stand him and nearly punched my TV screen every time he opened his mouth. I'll definitely watch more work from Dayton and Faris and i'm putting this movie and Paul Dano into a special place in my heart.
